Chalk Application

This is the most effective and natural way of improving water quality for any pond or lake.  All pieces of water can suffer from the effects of decaying organic matter, which increases silt build-up and acidification, as well as lowering the amount of oxygen in the water. 

Chalk application, in the form of microscopic particles of calcium carbonate, is harmless to plants and animals.  Its application counteracts acidity and increases oxygenation, which stimulates aerobic micro-organisms, so improving biodiversity.  It also improves water clarity by settling silt and reducing the methane production in the silt body.
